700 Hobos
This is the real deal and ends up a sort of sublime, epic poem of the old weird America.
Listen to the reading of 700 Hobo names (to the accompaniment of a folk guitar and ghostly radio signal) HERE. All 700 Hobos illustrated (a gargantuan project) over HERE.
I can't explain why, but this is one of the most powerful things I've come across in a long time.

When I lived in Toledo, I occasionally had the pleasure of seeing Steam Train Maury (aka The King of the Hobos). Ever see him? He settled down in his later life. He used to come in to Churchill's grocery on Byrne rd, still bearing his carved cane that donned his title.
And let's not forget the late, great Jimmy "The Box Man."
Hear from a colleague of ours that Steam Train Maury actually visited some classes at Genoa middle school in the 80s.
